7 Ways to Make Water Taste Great

Have you ever met a child that wouldn’t drink water because “it tasted bad”?

I know I was one of those kids and my mother would grind her teeth every time I’d reject her icy cold beverage.

Gladly, and many years later, I grew up to appreciate the taste of water thanks to the different techniques listed below.

Fruit infusions

To enhance your water’s flavor, try infusing it with fruits!

Usually, these infusions are prepared with citrous fruits (e.g. oranges, lemons, limes), or even cucumbers, given they are bound to feel more refreshing and stimulating to the tongue, specially after a steamy jog at the park.

To get a more candied drink, use berries such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries. To achieve this, grab a handful of the fruit of your choice, dip it in your glass of water and then simply allow their juices to brew into your water.

Add some ice cubes and you’re ready to go!

Juice it out!

If fruits are not at your reach, you can also try enhancing your water with organic and natural juices like orange or apple juice.

Try avoid using bitter extracts from fruits like cranberry or pomegranate, for example, to get a crispier and tastier drink.

The best part is that, not only will you get a tasty drink from using natural juices, but you will be in top-conditions thanks to their cancer fighting qualities.

Fizz about it

For those of you that don’t necessarily enjoy sugary or citric flavors, but instead enjoy the bubbly feeling cola drinks give you, mineral water is the drink for you.

Spice things up by taking in some ice cold hissing carbonated water or an enhanced seltzer. And did you know, you can make your own seltzer at home?

Ice, ice, baby

What is better than ice cubes in your glass of water on a 98 F day? Minty ice cubes in your glass of water. This technique is very handy since you can save time and money by putting two great things in one.

Take your ice tray and fill it up with water. Then, crush a few mint leaves and add them to your soon-to-be-iced tray.

If this idea appeals to you, you can also consider making ice cubes with coffee, green tea, or even cucumbers.

Tea’s the season for tea

Iced, hot, green, black, herbal, white, yellow, matcha, oolong, pu-erh, and whatever other weird names they may have, teas come in diverse shapes and colors to fit your palate.

These can be grown at home as well as bought from your local markets and they can be brewed hot or cold.

Teas are perfect for people looking to try new things since there are so many of them and can be served with any plate, on any occasion.

Water alternatives

If the above text was not enough to water your mouth, perhaps you need some consommés or bouillons. Since they are water based, these alternatives can be what you need to replenish your energy after a long day.

Make sure to select low-fat and low-sodium stews to keep your body in optimal shape for years to come.

If all else fails, you may need to reluctantly resort to sugar drink blends.
